The Corvis Annual "Founding Day Steam Jack Parade"

Organiser: The Engineers Guild and the Coal Merchant's Union back it up, but in past years it has been chiefly organized by the owner of  "Engines East", Gamack Redhammer, who also supplies many different 'Jacks' for the parade.

Description: The Parade started years ago as a show of military might and was simply called the "Corvis Founding Day Parade".  But, as steam powered weapons and then Steam Jacks became more prominent, Steam Jacks and some War Jacks began to take over the parade. Now, the parade is mostly composed of 'Jacks' and has taken on its present name.

The parade winds through the streets of Corvis with many Steam Jacks and steam powered contraptions. Steam Jacks are brought in from all parts of the Kingdom. The more noise the better.

Many Steam Jacks are individually sponsored by local establishments and carry signs, or banners advertising places of business. Of course, afterwards, another industry that makes out is the Corvis Street Cobblers and Stone Masons. They both make a tidy sum every year fixing the shattered and cracked stonework along the parade's route.

Agenda: All morning long Steam Jacks, War Jacks and other steam conveyances that can safely navigate the winding streets of Corvis, line up in the South East Park. Then, on Trineus the 25th, at the tolling of the Mid-Day Bell, the Marshall of the parade (usually the Captain of the City Guard) steps off, leading behind him the clanking and whistling line of machinery (as said, the louder, the better).

The parade, sometimes a good mile long, crosses over streets and bridges (the ones deemed safe for the tremendous weight) to bring it pass the City Hall. Here, the city council and many of Corvis's prominent citizens watch the parade pass. At points in the parade, special drills will be performed by squads of  'Jacks' for the benefit of the spectators.

It is rumoured that this year Good King Leto himself may attend the parade and that he has commissioned the construction of a steam powered mechanikal band to march amidst the Steam Jacks (in recent years it has gotten increasingly difficult to get actual musicians or minstrels to join in, since marching along side Steam Jacks in the close quarters of Corvis's maze of streets can be hazardous. Still, a few military bands are always present).

After this, the parade crosses over into West Corvis. It winds through the Merchant's  'Bourg', past the Water Front and through the 'Quad'. All the while, locals and visitors cheer the noisy passage of walking metal. Children wait impatiently for the random tossing of candy and small toys from the Steam Jacks, or their handlers.

Finally, the whole parade ends up just outside of the North East Gate where, commonly, there is a carnival waiting for the enjoyment of the city which starts after the parade and runs into the evening. This, however, is a separate event.

Social crowd: The 'Jacks' that are entered into the parade are from all over Corvis and Cygnar. Some have even come from states of allied countries, although only a few. All entries into the Parade must provide there own coal supply and must submit to an inspection for Safe Machinery, Steamling infestation of Coal and, Morrow Forbid, Gremlins!
