The ferry regatta

Organiser: Dugger Aleman, of Aleman Ferries, Corvis.

Description: Everyone knows and uses the ferries of Corvis. Apart from the bridges, they are often the easiest ways of getting around the city. Once a year on Founding Day, Dugger Aleman brings all the ferries together that wish to participate.

The ferries take passengers on board at the courthouse docks, and race to the North Bridge and back again. The passengers? Council members.

People line the docks and the North Bridge, betting on the results.

Agenda: The day starts earlier for the councillors with a lunch at the council hall. Fine wines are sampled, sometimes to excess, which makes for a much more interesting race indeed.

Then after lunch - usually around 1, but sometimes later - the race begins. Tolling of the bells from the court declare the race begun, and attract attention in the shorefront of the city.

Social Crowd: Council members of Corvis.
Select Ferries and crews as invited by Dugger Aleman.
Many of the common people crowd the docks, the North Bridge and also ply the waters in other ferries and boats to enjoy the spectacle.
