Organiser: The Union Steamo Representative Smith Ironcut
Description: Competition starts two days before the festival where the competitors sign up and receive the rules for the designing and testing of the guns. Example: No using the weapons in town, no magic usage in creating weapon and so forth. Contestants are given free use of union shop to work on making their gun for the next two days. This is a straight test of skill in creating a new design for a pistol, not just changing looks.
All will be judged on Founding Day with public testing in front of three judges. The only materials that can be used are those provided by the union, in other words the basic materials. One has two days to create the blueprints and the weapon and at the end of those two days the judges will look over each blueprint and gun turned in for safety reasons and will then have them tested in a shooting competition at old Faley's place at the edge of town on Founder's Day at high noon. Range, accuracy, and ease of use will be tested. The building and testing will be done at the local Union Steamo building. Awards will be awarded at 4:00 after the shooting competition for most practical, best looking, most interesting, and best overall.
Winners will receive a cash prize for their designs along with free meal and stay at any union steamo building for the year (only available for the Best overall). Competition costs 10 gold to enter and covers materials, food and boarding costs.
Agenda:
Trineus 23th: Competition starts to build the blueprints and guns.
Tineus 24th at dusk: Competitors turn in their blueprints and prototype guns for first check.
Trineus 25th at noon: The shooting contest begins with judging following the competition for various awards.
Social Crowd: Shop owners and Mechaniks from all over the world along with gunslingers that are passing through. The day of the competition also attracts thrill seekers and almost always other union recruiters.
