Organiser: Glex Madtooth and the "friendly" staff of the Stone Bridge Inn & Tavern.
Glex is a retired stonemason who has had his hands in the raising of a good number of Corvis structures and landmarks. He built the Stone Bridge as his last trade project, and now runs the place. It's his pride and joy,
and he likes recanting the history of the building and the surrounding area to any ear that will listen. His burly stature and sharp wit are that of a man half his age, though his hair, once jet black, is now shot through with gray, and his waning eyesight has begun to cause problems for some customers.
He's friendly, sporting a quick smile and a self deprecating charm if he likes you, but if he doesn't he'll just as soon serve your face a healthy portion of fist as he would give a thirsty orphan a glass of calberry
juice.
Description:
The Stone Bridge is nestled in the industrial district of East Corvis where a shady lot of rabble mingle with honest workers for stiff drinks after a long day in the quarries, mills, and smithies. With 23 rooms upstairs and boasting the best blackfish chowder this side of the Gulf, it's a cheap night's lodging and a good meal for a weary traveller who wants to remain anonymous. The main floor holds the kitchen and the great room where the ceiling is easily 15 feet high and everything is made of stone, except for the chairs packed around 30 solid rock tables (easily seating 180 guests, but also with ample standing room).
Final Fight Night started like any other celebration where the hearth is warm, the company mixed, and the booze flowing without end - in a flurry of raucous yells, flared emotions, broken furniture, and meat-to-bone
brawling. Not being supported by the city's nobles with the same enthusiasm as Boxing Day as the climate is a bit unpredictable, the city guard crashed the party and shut the place down time and again. That is, until Glex began brilliantly marketing his most profitable night of the year as a re-enactment of the final wave of rebellion that pushed the Orgoth Empire back across the ocean (with a three drink minimum). The city council ended up sanctioning the event on the pretence of it's cultural and historical context; that and the fact that they really couldn't stop drunk people from fighting, and no one "important" was getting hurt.
Things evolved from there. Now it's common to see celebrants dressed in rebel faction and Orgoth costumes smashing chairs or pitchers of Murder Stout across one another's head, with tentative onlookers gawking, placing
bets, and trying (usually unsuccessfully) to keep from being pulled into the mix.
Agenda:
Before the evening progresses to its debauched climax, it has become quite popular to have firer jugglers, dancers, and magician's tricks, lead by the master of ceremonies, here know as The Prodder, who also serves to
rile the crowd up with bad jokes, jeers, and jabs.
This goes on until the first punch is thrown, usually at the Prodder, but not uncommonly amongst friends, and the chaos everyone has been waiting for breaks out and spreads like wild fire table to table and out into the
street. A particularly discoloured bruise, swollen lip, sprained leg, broken finger, etc, are honourable traits to show off the next day, especially when "you should have seen the other guy."
Social Crowd:
The Stone Bridge has its regulars, which consist of the working class, and the thieving class, with a healthy mix of Trollkin and an Ogrun now and then, but on Final Fight Night, crowds from all over Corvis come to see
the show - the faint of heart hoping to duck out before it's too late.
