An important NPC is kidnapped and the heroes receive a letter clarifying that he/she will only be released if the characters gather certain parts of a device. These parts are spread out and hidden in various market stalls.
Use the Quad Divas free download here at Buccaneer Bass to have a good list of vendors.
Write down on a paper the 4 or so stalls where the pieces are hidden. The characters will have to convince, pay, seduce or whatever the vendors in order to search for the parts. Maybe they can find help amongst the vendors. (see the quad divas pdf for vendors personalities).
Will the heroes find the pieces in time to meet the midnight deadline?
Will they figure out the device?
- There is also another team trying to collect the pieces!
Is it just a rival gang? On contacting them it turns out that it is an undercover team working for the city. The pieces are parts of a secret high tech device that was stolen. The thief thought that the ground under his feet was getting too hot and hid the parts on the market. The kidnappers know this and are trying to find the pieces without being noticed. They can work together and maybe find the kidnappers/thieves or work against them and just try to meet the midnight deadline.
- The NPC isn't kidnapped. She is actually not such a goody 2 shoes and stole a device from the city. Upon being followed by the city's investigators, she hid the pieces on the market and now that the heat is cooling down she uses the characters to retrieve them without being seen.
- The pieces turn out to be a powerful weapon that was stolen. The thief hid the parts on the market to force his boss to pay more for it. The characters may be contacted by the thief or may figure out the nature of the weapon and use it against the kidnappers.
