Was that a Colossal's Foot?
The PCs, for one reason or another, find themselves in an institute of learning, specifically one that has arcane mechaniks (professors and students) in its ranks (Corvis University is a good choice). Walking through the halls, they see three students laboriously pushing a trolley down a hall. On the trolley is a large mechanikal foot, twice the length of a man's height. One of the students says "Wait until Professor Van Huysen sees this!" |

One of the students says "Wait until Professor Van Huysen sees this!"
- The foot is covered in rust and entwined in vines. The students stumbled upon the ruined hulk of a Colossal outside the city and have managed to bring this piece of it into the city. However, upon their departure, they angered a tribe of gobbers that live inside the main housing of the structure and are prepared to deal with any new interlopers.
- The foot is a genuine artifact from the time of the Colossals, but it's actually bait for a trap. A cephalyx has settled in the area outside of town and the buried Colossal occupies part of its new lair. The creature has had the foot moved to the surface to attract fresh and curious victims, especially arcane mechaniks, which it currently is seeking for its operating table.
- The students have actually constructed the foot themselves as part of their grand plan to redesign an entire Colossal of old. The problem is that they don't have any room to start working on the rest of the thing, so they're planning an expedition into the Undercity of Corvis to find a chamber large enough to put their "pet project" together.
