- A Cryxian necromancer has unleashed his newest viral creation upon the unsuspecting crew of the Maiden's Pride as they were sailing through Scharde's waters. When they returned home they spread the disease amongst the population.
- Hulor Bargan, famed Trollkin cook, has recently found employment in the city. His famed grilled tuna dish is exquisite but sadly also highly poisonous to humans. Hulor isn't aware of this though, and since several cooks in the area started copying his dish, the "disease" can't be traced back to the Drunken Clam, the inn where he works.
- Sailors on board the Maiden's Pride brought back a disease from Khador. Khadorians are mostly immune to it since it's a typical infant's disease and quite harmless to them. If someone suffered the disease during childhood, they are immune to it for the rest of their lives. The disease is unknown in the region however and the adult population has no antibodies and is therefore very vulnerable to it.
